The Fire Drill
As we were eating lunch and sitting quietly, we heard the alarm. We thought it was a practise so we calmly lined up but when Christopher opened the door a gust of smoke blew into the room. It was a fire! We all stood in fear but teacher said, “Don’t worry, we won’t get hurt.” So, we walked out of the room, I was the last in the line and as the students in front of me got through the classroom door I saw the door closing so I hurried frantically but I was too late. I was trapped in the classroom. Blackness surrounded me, as I lay on the ground. I woke up, the fire engulfed my surroundings and I was covered in ash. I heard sirens echo the halls. I saw something through the window and I was glad to see the fire engine outside. They raised the ladder and broke the glass. When I got outside, clutching the fireman’s jacket, I noticed the material felt like warm and silky...safe.
